‘When They Go Low, We Go High’: Michelle Obama’s Epic DNC Speech

*Michelle Obama took the stage at the Democratic National Convention last night and accomplished a number of miraculous feats with her speech for the ages.

She put GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in check without ever mentioning his name, she temporarily quelled the chanting “Bernie or Bust” folks who had been boisterous and disruptive whenever the name Hillary Clinton was spoken, and FLOTUS appeared to quiet Trump himself, who tweeted snarky responses to every speaker critical of him Monday night…except for the First Lady.

Democrats and Republicans alike have praised the speech, which painted the choice in November as being either a positive role model for the nation’s children, or a divisive one.

“In this election, and every election, it is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives,” she told the crowd at Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia. “I am you tonight because in this election, there is only one person who I trust with that responsibility, only one person who I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United States, and that is our friend Hillary Clinton.”

FLOTUS went on to address “the hateful language that we hear from public figures on TV,” saying, “our motto is, when they go low, we go high.”

Reaching out to supporters of Bernie Sanders who vow never to vote for Clinton, she said of the Democratic nominee: “When she did not win the nomination eight years ago, she did not get angry or disillusioned. Hillary did not pack up and go home because … Hillary knows that this is so much bigger than her own disappointment.”

Regarding Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, Mrs. Obama talked about raising her daughters, “two beautiful intelligent black young women,” in a White House that was built by slaves.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that this country isn’t great. This right now is the greatest country on earth,” the first lady said.
