Vestige Strategies (VS), one of the nation’s top civic and community engagement firms, has partnered with the 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East Union to encourage the millennial vote during a political rally at Florida Memorial University this Monday, November 7, featuring superstar hip-hop artists including T.I., Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Pusha T, Jay Electronica, and more.
The event taking placing on the eve of the Presidential election will help to mobilize African-American, Latino and Haitian/Caribbean youth to the polls on Tuesday, November 8.
Heralded as the Young Gets It Done rally, the event will also feature prominent activists and cultural leaders such as Sybrina Fulton “the mother of Trayvon Martin”, Aja Monet, Afro-Cuban poet Carmen Berkley, Aaron Mair “President of the Sierra Club”, Umi Selah “Dream Defenders”, and Stephen Green “NAACP Youth and College Division National Director.”
Radio icon Angie Martinez will host the rally alongside Vestige Strategies CEO Stefanie James-Brown.
“In 2012 I saw the power of the black vote serving as Obama’s National Black Vote Director and I want to see that power turn out in 2016 too,” said Stefanie James-Brown in a statement. “Black millennials are culture creators and we want to take the influence we have and use it beyond just entertainment but also in the political process.”
With over 5,000 millennial voters expected to attend this free-to-the-public rally, Vestige Strategies hopes to amplify their concerns in the final hours of The Election.
“There’s been a tremendous lack of outreach to the black millennial voting block in 2016 so we’ve scrapped together resources, called on friends, amazing artists and organizations who answered the call,” stated Vestige Strategies COO Quentin James, who co-produced the event with spouse Stefanie Brown-James.
“Now we have this amazing event to help ensure we raise up the concerns of young black voters and encourage them to participate in the election on Tuesday,” said Mr. James.
The Youth Gets It Done rally goes from with doors opening at 5pm ET
