Case Of Mistaken identity As Suspects Are Named In Na'Kia Crawford's Case

Help APD locate suspects (#20-072073). On Sunday, June 14th at approximately 1:25 PM, officers responded to the area of E. North St. and N. Howard St. for a shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found 18 year old Na’kia Crawford in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to Akron Summa (City) Hospital where she later died. A comprehensive investigation was immediately initiated and has been ongoing around the clock since that time. The investigation involved members of the Akron Police Department, as well as federal law enforcement partners. Additionally, we have received information from our community that has been beneficial in creating a timeline of events.

Wednesday evening, the investigation led to the discovery that the Black Chevy Camaro we broadcast had been abandoned in Cleveland. The vehicle was located and transported to the Akron Police Department for processing. The investigation accelerated from that point, leading to warrants being signed on three individuals. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
