County Executive Ilene Shapiro's Department of Finance and Budget Honored with National Budget Presentation Award Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro's Department of Finance and Budget has been recognized with a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2016 budget. The national award was presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The award is based on achieving "proficient" ratings in four categories: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Each category has 14 mandatory criteria that had to be met to receive the award. In presenting the award the GFOA noted the commitment of the Department of Finance and Budget to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. "The Department of Finance and Budget has once again presented a document that meets the highest standards of excellence in governmental budgeting," stated Executive Shapiro. "We are pleased that they have been recognized for their achievement." The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 18,700 government finance professionals throughout North America. It provides top quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program that recognizes governmental budgeting. - END -
