Suspect Arrested in Fatal Akron Fire


State and local officials today announced Stanley 0. Ford (DOB: 04/08/59) of Akron was arrested in connection to a fatal arson fire on Fultz Road that killed seven people, including five children. He has been charged with one count of aggravated arson and seven counts of aggravated murder. The State Fire Marshal's Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau, the Akron Police Department and Akron Fire Department worked jointly on this investigation. "The loss of life can never be replaced, but through the collaboration of state and local officials, we can bring to justice the man responsible for this horrific incident," Interim State Fire Marshal Jeff A. Hussey. "We will continue working with all agencies involved to see this case through until the end." The fire occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, May 15 at 693 Fultz Road in Akron. The Akron Fire Department responded to the fire.
