BLACK-OWNED BEAUTY BRAND ‘THE LIP BAR’ LAUNCHING AT TARGET

Melissa Butler’s melanin-friendly beauty brand The Lip Bar was crudely dismissed on “Shark Tank,” with one of the sharks creating a racial firestorm by saying the industry would “crush” Butler and her partner “like the cockroaches you are.” (Watch the video above.)

Welp, Butler is getting the last laugh, as Target is adding the black-owned beauty brand to its shelves this Sunday (Feb. 18), she revealed on Instagram.

The former Wall Street financial analyst created The Lip Bar after years of frustration that women of color weren’t adequately represented in the beauty industry. “Everyone deserves to have representation. Without it, we are left seeking validation,” she said in a statement.

All of ABC’s sharks passed on The Lip Bar during her Jan. 2016 episode, missing out on an enterprise that is now worth nearly half a million.

The vegan, cruelty-free line boasts such lip products as Cream Lipstick ($12), a super moisturizing formula filled with shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil and vitamin E. The brand’s liquid matte collection ($13) is formulated with almond oil to keep the matte finish from drying out lips. Finally, there’s the organic collection of lip glosses ($14), which nourish like a balm and finish like a lip glaze.

The Lip Bar is already available at 44 Target stores.

Two of the shades are exclusive to Target: Unimpressed, a liquid matte lip color; and Baddie, a lip gloss.
