Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Local Chapter Celebrates 65 Years!
Akron, OH – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), Zeta Theta Omega Chapter, in collaboration with The Pearl Foundation, the chapter’s 501c(3) philanthropy arm, is planning for an exciting milestone anniversary, Celebrating 65 Years of Service! Zeta Theta Omega Chapter was chartered on April 3, 1954 in Akron, Ohio by 29 members. Three of the charter members remain active with the chapter; Thelma Allen, Leona Wright Farris, and Doris Pryear.
The chapter will observe its 65th birthday celebration on Saturday evening. April 6, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Cedars Ballroom, 507 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Fairlawn OH 44333.

Proceeds will support community initiatives, scholarships, and programs.
During the celebration, Zeta Theta Omega will recognize scholars from The University of Akron and Kent State University for their academic success. Three awards will also be presented to community individuals and partners meeting Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service program initiatives. Award recipients are: The Reporter, Pastor Lynette Jenkins, and Woodrow Nash, artist.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest African-American greek letter sorority founded by and for African American College educated women. AKA has 1,024 chapters and nearly 300,000 members in more than 55 nations and all 50 states.
