COINCIDENCE? TRUMP TO AWARD TIGER WOODS PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM
Here’s a Trump move that we can honestly say doesn’t surprise us. On Monday, the orange a-hole in the White House said he will award the Presidential Medal of Honor to Tiger Woods.
Trump is awarding The Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Woods on the heels of his sensational comeback win at this past weekend’s Masters Tournament.
“Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!” Trump tweeted.
The president did not say when the 43-year-old golfer would receive the award. It also give him the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. With Woods, Trump finally has a high profile celebrity (other than Kanye West) he can brag about and since Tiger’s black (even though he won’t admit it), Trump also has another “African American” he can prop up the black community in his effort to show some kind of out reach to black folk.
Meanwhile, as we reported on Sunday, Woods’ victory gave him his 15th major championship win and his fifth Masters title, marking a stunning turnaround that captivated the sports world. it should also be noted that the win capped off over a decade that saw the golfer’s reputation tarnished by an infidelity scandal and his career jeopardized by a series of back injuries.
The Medal of Freedom is awarded by the president to citizens who make an “especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, or world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
The Hill points out that 45 has given the medal to seven people, including NFL Hall of Famers Roger Staubach and Alan Page and the late New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth.
