ASAP ROCKY ‘DISAPPOINTED’ WITH GUILTY VERDICT IN STOCKHOLM STREET BRAWL CASE
A$AP Rocky has responded to being found guilty of assault in Sweden following his arrest last month over a brawl in Stockholm last month.
The rapper was given a suspended sentence and reportedly ordered to pay $1,303 damages after a 19-year-old man was attacked by Rocky and two of his associates in the Swedish capital on June 30.
ASAP pleaded self-defense during his trial earlier this month but the Stockholm District Court said Rocky and his co-defendants “were not in a situation” where self-defense applied and that they “assaulted the victim by hitting and kicking him.”
The New York-native and his two bodyguards were “convicted of assault and sentenced to conditional sentences.”
In a new Instagram post, A$AP Rocky commented on the verdict, writing: “I am of course disappointed by today’s verdict. I want to say thanks again to all of my fans, friends, and everyone who showed me love during this difficult time. Imma keep moving forward. Thank you to my team, my management, attorneys, label and everyone who advocated for justice.”
He was released from a Swedish prison at the beginning of August, following calls for his freedom from celebrities of Kim Kardashian and Donald Trump.
Speaking for the first time after his release earlier this month, the hip-hop star thanked fans for supporting him during his prison stint.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” he wrote.
“I can’t begin to describe how humbling how grateful I am for all of you. This has been a very difficult and humbling experience.”
