The Board of Directors of NAMI Summit County is pleased to announce the selection of its new Board President, Robert L. Hunt. Mr. Hunt succeeds Richard Schwartz, MD who previously served in the position for the past 5 years. Mr. Hunt took on the interim role of Vice President of NAMI Summit County after the resignation of Michael Schmeltzer, JD, who served in the role for 4.5 years. Margaret (Peggy) Halter, PhD has been elected to succeed Mr. Hunt as Vice President of NAMI Summit County.

Mr. Hunt is President of Hunt Corp. Industries, LLC, and Resident Supervisor at Oriana House/SHARP program. He has been a member of the Board of Directors at NAMI Summit County for the past four years, and served as Chair of the Board Development Committee. He is a trained Family to Family teacher. He holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Akron, and an M.B.A. from Baldwin Wallace College.

Dr. Halter is an advanced practiced registered nurse. She has a PhD from Duquesne University and authors the leading undergraduate psychiatric nursing textbook. Dr. Halter is a nursing educator and administrator, most recently at The Ohio State University. She was also a clinician at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General. She has served on the NAMI Summit County Board of Directors for 3 years where she chaired the Programming Committee.

NAMI Summit County (NAMI-SC) is a grassroots, self-help organization formed in 1986.It is comprised of families and friends, and those living with a mental illness diagnosis. It is a local affiliate of NAMI Ohio and NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) which was founded in 1979.The mission of NAMI Summit County is to improve the quality of life for families and individuals who are impacted by mental illness through support, education, and advocacy.
