Akron EMS Crew Awarded “EMS Crew of the Year for 2024” by the Cleveland Clinic

Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Akron Fire Chief Leon Henderson announced that Akron Firefighter/Paramedics Elizabeth Davis and James Remick, partners at Fire Station 6 on South Hawkins Avenue, have been named the EMS Crew of the Year for 2024 by the Cleveland Clinic. This distinguished honor recognizes their exceptional dedication, skill, and performance in emergency medical services and will be awarded at the Cleveland Clinic Inaugural Awards Ceremony on January 31st.
Nominated by their lieutenant, Chris Bader, Davis and Remick were selected from a large pool of outstanding candidates for their extraordinary teamwork, calm demeanor under pressure, and mastery of EMS protocols. Their seamless coordination and decision-making skills have made a critical difference in many life-threatening situations.
In recent months, Davis and Remick have responded to numerous high-stress EMS calls, including pediatric and adult cardiac arrests as well as severe traumas. Their ability to remain composed and effectively apply their extensive training ensured that their patients received the best possible care in critical moments.
“Elizabeth and James exemplify the qualities of an exceptional EMS crew. Their commitment to providing the highest level of care, even in the most challenging circumstances, is nothing short of inspiring,” said Lt. Bader. “Their cohesion and professionalism set a standard for excellence in our department.”
