Akron Public Schools and the City of Akron will conduct a joint active shooter response training exercise at Jennings CLC on Wednesday, June 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The training will involve Akron Police, Akron Fire, other emergency personnel, and APS staff.
Community members in the surrounding area may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and first responders during the exercise.
This is only a drill. There is no active threat to the school or surrounding community. The exercise is part of the district and city’s ongoing commitment to school safety and emergency preparedness.
Akron Public Schools and the City of Akron are sharing this information in advance to help keep the community informed and avoid confusion related to emergency response activity in the area.
We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of nearby residents and community members during the training exercise.
