An Accurate Update Regarding The Summit Mall Melee

It seems like a lot of misinformation regarding the "chaos" at Summit Mall this past Thursday have made it to the community. Some have reported things from "looting to shootings" took place during the melee. This article is our attempt of a simple but accurate update regarding the situation that happened.

To date, there have been about twenty juveniles arrested. According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office deputies were helping Fairlawn Police and others to provide extra security. It is believed that several altercations broke out between juveniles inside the mall and parking lot. It's been reported that deputies were assaulted during the arrests. There were one deputy that had to be treated by the Fairlawn Fire Department.

The twenty juveniles that were arrested now face charges such as trespassing, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, and assault on a peace officer. The mall had to close early due to the chaotic situation. The Fairlawn Police department urged people from spreading false news via social media. It is understood that many people have instant access to social media apps via their mobile smart phones.
