City Of Akron Launches Incident Website And Adjusts Downtown Curfew



Akron, Ohio, July 11, 2022 — Today, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan announced the launch of the city’s incident website at www.akronupdates.com. The site will provide the most up to date safety information for downtown and beyond. It will also serve as a collective hub for all the information available to the public in relation to the fatal shooting of Jayland Walker which occurred in Akron on Monday, June 27, 2022.

The site will include planned road closures, all relevant press releases that have been distributed, links to resources such as the body worn camera footage, and more.

“Transparency, timely communications, and accurate information are some of the most important items we can deliver to our community right now,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan. “Launching this site will allow us to keep our residents, business owners, and community partners up to date with the latest safety information and city news in relation to this incident.”

Additionally, the curfew in downtown Akron has been adjusted to 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting tonight. The other details of the order including exceptions and footprint remain the same.
