City Of Akron Offices Closed For Business On Monday, July 5 In Observance Of Independence Day

Akron, Ohio, June 30, 2021 — All municipal offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of Independence Day.

Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan remarked, “As we observe the Fourth of July holiday, may we take pause to remember our military members, both past and present, whose service and sacrifice allow us to celebrate the independence we hold dear as Americans. And as we celebrate by gathering with friends and family, may we also continually strive toward a ‘more perfect union’ that embodies and empowers all of us.”

There will be no delay in trash/recycle collections for the week. Since the legal holiday falls on Sunday, it will be a normal collection week. To get reminders and alerts about your household’s curb service schedule, please download the Akron Recycles app free on Android or Apple devices.

Akron will host four synchronized fireworks displays across the City beginning at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday July 4, 2021. The synchronized program of fireworks will be launched from the Akron Executive Airport, Patterson Park Ballfields, Summit Lake, and Erie Island. To learn more read here.
