City Of Akron Offices Closed For Business On Monday, October 12th

Akron, Ohio, October 8, 2020— All municipal offices will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2020 in observance of Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day. On June 29, 2020 Akron City Council passed Resolution No. 184-2020 recognizing and declaring the second Monday in October as Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day in the City of Akron to honor the history, culture, and contributions of the Italian-American Community to Akron and Summit County. Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day replaces the local recognition of Columbus Day.

There will be no delay in curb service for Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day. Trash/recycle collections will continue as usual for the week of October 12th. To get reminders and alerts about your household’s curb service schedule, please download the Akron Recycles app free on Android or Apple devices.

As a reminder, physical access to municipal buildings remains very limited during the City’s response to COVID-19, and will remain limited until further notice. City offices and services are still accessible via the phone, website, and email, but will be closed for business on Monday, October 12th.
