City of Akron Offices Closed Monday September 7 in Observance of Labor Day

All municipal offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. There will be no curb service on Monday. There will be a one-day delay of trash/recycle collections for the remainder of the week, with curb service resuming on Tuesday, September 8th and continuing through Saturday, September 12th. 

“Labor Day weekend is a great opportunity to spend time with family, enjoy our community, and celebrate the people who make Akron such a special place,” said Mayor Malik. “We’re excited to welcome residents to the fourth annual Akron City Festival throughout the weekend and to continue the longstanding tradition of the East Akron Labor Day Parade on Monday. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.” 

The City of Akron is hosting the fourth annual Akron City Festival on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th. On Saturday, the event will be held at the Akron Public Library (60 S High St.) from 11:30am to 4pm with a ballet showcase featuring Ohio Contemporary Ballet, a music showcase featuring The Youth Nation Center, a dance showcase featuring Born to Dance 330, and a fashion showcase by Nightlyfe Entertainment. On Sunday, the event will be held at Lock 3 (200 S Main St.) from 10am-4pm. A parade will kick off the festivities at 11am at the former Spaghetti Warehouse parking lot (510 S Main St.) Following the parade, there’s a long list of activities for families to enjoy such as face painting, inflatables, food vendors, live music, artists of all kinds, and more. Learn more about the fourth annual Akron City Festival here. 

The 51 Annual East Akron Labor Day Parade will take place on Monday, September 7th from 10am to 12pm. The parade will start at S. Arlington Street and 7th Avenue, and end at Concord Avenue. Learn more at eandc.org.
