City of Akron Provides Free Meals Through Summer Food Service Program

Akron, Ohio, May 13, 2026  — Beginning Monday, June 8, the City of Akron will provide meals to all eligible youth (18 years of age or younger) and summer day camp program participants that meet the income guidelines for reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. The meals will be prepared by Akron Public Schools and passed out a variety of community centers and other city locations. The program runs Monday-Friday from June 8 – July 31 excluding Fri. June 19 and Fri. July 3.

The income guidelines for reduced-price meals by family size are available upon request. Children who are part of households that receive foods stamps or benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) are automatically eligible to receive free meals.

The meal program is available June 8-July 31 excluding holidays at the below locations at the listed times:
