City Of Akron Recreation & Parks Hosting Golf Outing Fundraiser To Support New Youth Empowerment

Akron, Ohio, July 22, 2021 — Today, Mayor Horrigan announced that City of Akron Recreation and Parks will host a golf outing fundraiser on Thursday, September 23 at J.E. Good Park Golf Course to help fund a new youth recreation scholarship.

The Youth Empowerment Scholarship or “YES” Fund will assist families with children 18 years and younger who live in Akron and meet certain eligibility requirements, with any fee-based Akron Recreation & Parks programming. YES scholarships are limited to one scholarship per child per season (winter & summer) on a first come first serve basis dependent on the amount of funds available. YES applications will be available beginning in 2022. More information will be announced closer to the release date.

“Our Recreation and Parks team keeps our programming fees as low as possible, but we know that sometimes the cost can still be a barrier for families,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan. “We want all of our youth to have access to our recreational programming and the YES fund is one way we can help ensure we are knocking down financial barriers for Akron’s kids. If you’d like to help ensure access to quality recreational programming for all of Akron’s young people, we invite you to attend our upcoming golf outing fundraiser, have fun, and support the YES fund.”

The golf outing is $75 per person for early registration through Sept. 1. After Sept. 1, registration will be $90 per person. The fee covers 18 holes of golf, one cart per twosome, a bagged lunch from 1925 Grille, two drink tickets, and a catered dinner from DeVitis. Register online here. The outing schedule is listed below:

Registration - 10:30am Lunch - 11:00am Shotgun Start - 11:30am Dinner/Awards - 4:30pm
