City of Akron Trick or Treat Set for Saturday, October 31

Akron, Ohio, Sept. 29, 2026 — The City of Akron’s annual Trick or Treat Night will take place on Halloween - Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Akron residents who wish to participate are encouraged to turn on their porch or front lights during Trick or Treat hours to let families know they are welcoming trick-or-treaters.
“Trick or Treat is one of those traditions that brings our neighborhoods to life and gives families a chance to get outside and enjoy their community together,” said Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. “We hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween, and we’re grateful to our residents and first responders for helping make it a great evening for kids and families across Akron.”
Akron Police officers will be on patrol throughout the evening and will pay special attention to children and families walking through city neighborhoods. Drivers are encouraged to slow down and remain especially alert in residential neighborhoods during Trick or Treat hours.
According to Akron City Council Ordinance 419-2008, Trick or Treat Night in the City of Akron is held annually on the last Saturday in October from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The uniform date and time provides consistency for residents and allows for increased attention to safety throughout Akron neighborhoods.
Halloween Safety Tips
The City encourages families to keep a few basic safety precautions in mind while celebrating:
Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult or travel in groups.
Trick-or-treaters should use sidewalks whenever possible and cross streets at intersections or designated crosswalks.
Drivers should use extra caution and watch for children, particularly in residential neighborhoods.
Costumes should be visible to drivers; reflective tape, glow sticks or flashlights can help increase visibility after dark.
Families should only visit homes with porch or front lights turned on.
