Mayor Horrigan Announces 34th Annual Welcome Santa Holiday Parade Taking Place November 27th



Akron, Ohio, October 20, 2021 — Today, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan announced that the City will once again host the Welcome Santa Holiday Parade after taking a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The parade will take place on Saturday, November 27 beginning at 10:00 am. This year the parade route will be along King James Way (S. Main Street) from Cedar Street to Bowery Street. The Welcome Santa Holiday Parade is being sponsored by Bridgestone Americas.

“After taking a year off last year, we are excited to bring back this holiday tradition for our Akron residents and guests to enjoy,” said Mayor Horrigan. “The Welcome Santa Holiday parade is fun for the whole family and helps mark the start of the holiday season here in Akron.”

Parade announcers will be stationed in front of Lock 3 announcing each unit as they go by. Bring a chair and grab a spot anywhere along the parade route to enjoy the festivities.

The City is currently accepting applications for parade participants. It is free and easy to participate. Parade categories include marching bands, youth groups, specialty units, floats, and costumed characters.
