Mayor Malik to Host 2026 State of the City on May 19

 Akron Mayor Shammas Malik will deliver his third State of the City Address in the evening on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. This year’s address, hosted by the Akron Roundtable, will take place at the Akron Civic Theatre (182 S. Main St.) Doors will open at 4pm and the event will kick off at 5pm with a conclusion around 6:30pm. Mayor Malik invites Akron residents to attend the event for free by registering on the Akron Roundtable site here.  

Seating is general admission with sections available for ADA accessibility, deaf or hard of hearing, Nepali and Spanish simultaneous interpretation, elected officials and City of Akron employees.   

There are sponsorship opportunities available, and organizations interested in sponsoring can contact the Akron Roundtable at info@akronroundtable.org or (330) 247-8682. Proceeds will support City of Akron sponsorships for area organizations and non-profits.  

The event will be live streamed and broadcast in partnership with Ideastream Public Media, PBS Western Reserve, and the University of Akron. More details to come.
