*Subscribers of Netflix in the United States will soon see higher monthly costs, as the company rolls out another round of price increases across all of its plans, Variety reports.
The updated pricing affects every tier. The ad-supported option now costs $8.99 per month, rising by $1. Meanwhile, the Standard plan without ads increases by $2 to $19.99 per month, and the Premium tier, which includes Ultra HD streaming, climbs to $26.99 per month.

In explaining the changes, Netflix emphasized its ongoing strategy to balance pricing with content investment. The company said, “Our approach remains the same: We continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members we are updating our prices to enable us to reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience by updating our prices,”
The new rates are already in effect for customers who sign up beginning March 26. For those currently subscribed, the increases will be introduced gradually over the next several weeks. Netflix noted that users will receive an email notification at least one month before the new pricing is applied, with timing tied to individual billing cycles.
This pricing shift comes shortly after Netflix stepped away from a potential agreement involving Warner Bros. Discovery. The deal ultimately went to Paramount, which secured the assets and paid Netflix a $2.8 billion breakup fee following the termination of the earlier arrangement.
Speaking at an investor event, Netflix CFO Spence Neumann addressed the outcome, stating, “Now we move forward, and we move forward with $2.8 billion in our pocket that we didn’t have a few weeks ago.”
