City Partners with Salvation Army to Provide Free Meals to the Summit Lake Community


Akron, Ohio, February 14, 2017 — Mayor Dan Horrigan is proud to announce that the City of Akron Recreation Bureau has begun hosting free "Community Table" meals at Summit Lake Community Center every weekday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The Community Table feeding program is sponsored and implemented by The Salvation Army of Summit County. "This program demonstrates what is possible when we work together," Mayor Horrigan said. "The City is investing significant energy and resources into lifting up the Summit Lake neighborhood, and we are happy to open our doors to host a hot lunch every day of the week at our Summit Lake Community Center. We thank the Salvation Army for their contribution to improving the lives of our residents and look forward to expanding this partnership to other community locations." Crosier Street Akron, Ohio 44311 When: Every Monday through Friday 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Who: Meals are free to anyone that attends. The Salvation Army of Summit County continues to distribute its free hot meals from noon to 1:00 PM from its 190 South Maple Street location in Akron and from its Barberton Corps location at 560 Wooster Road West in Barberton. The Salvation Army is planning to expand its Community Table program into other City of Akron community centers, including Patterson Park, in the coming months.
