Library presents "Searching The Reporter, Akron's African-American newspaper" Program

September 27, 2017 — Jenni Salamon, Coordinator for the Ohio Digital Newspaper Program at the Ohio History Connection will present "Searching The Reporter, Akron's African-American newspaper and other digital historic newspapers now available on Ohio Memory" on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Library in Meeting Room 2AB, 60 S. High Street. The Reporter newspaper covering 1969-2016 is now available and full-text searchable on Ohio Memory (www.ohiomemory.org)! Learn how this newspaper was transformed from hardcopy to microfilm to digital images, as well as tips on how to search the digital collection. The digitization of the Akron-Summit County Public Library's collection of The Reporter was funded in part by the Dick and Chris Chenoweth fund of the Akron Community Foundation. Ohio Memory is the collaborative digital library program of the Ohio History Connection and the State Library of Ohio whose mission is to share and connect to Ohio's rich past through dynamic online resources. The program is free and open to the public, and free parking is available in the High-Market Parking Deck.
