3 Dancers Accuse Lizzo of Sexual Harassment in New Lawsuit
Lizzo is being sued by three former dancers accusing her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
As Daily Mail reports, dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez also accuse the Grammy-winning songstress (real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson) of weight-shaming and claim Lizzo pressured Davis to touch the breasts of a nude performer at an Amsterdam club.
Lizzo allegedly encouraged “catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” per the lawsuit, Daily Mail reports.
Davis was later “berated” and fired after recording a meeting with Lizzo and other dancers in April. At the time, she was suffering from a disorienting eye condition, which prompted her to record the meeting. According to the lawsuit, when Lizzo learned about the video, she “became furious, hurling expletives at the group and stated that she was going to go around the room, person-by-person, until someone told Lizzo who made the recording.”
Lizzo also allegedly subjected the dancers to an “excruciating 12-hour rehearsal” after falsely accusing them of drinking before performances.
As NBC News reports, Davis and Williams began performing with Lizzo after competing on her Amazon reality show, “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” in 2021. Rodriguez was hired after performing in Lizzo’s video “Rumors,” according to the suit. She resigned earlier this year after complaining about Williams being publicly fired, Daily Mail reports.
According to the lawsuit, when Rodriguez quit, Lizzo gave her “two middle fingers” and “yelled a slur at her,” the outlet writes.
Lizzo’s company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc., and her dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, are also named in the suit.
Quigley is accused of sharing “lewd sexual fantasies” and berating dancers who had had pre-marital sex.
According to NBC News, attorney Ron Zambrano, who is representing the three dancers, said “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly.”
The plaintiffs accuse Lizzo of disability discrimination, creating a hostile work environment, and sexual harassment.
