Black Comic Book Day At The Akron-Summit County Public Library



Come celebrate the Black experience, history, and contribution to sequential art at Black Comic Book Day! Featuring a panel discussion open to all, and a networking segment for local Black artists.

Join and participate in a special event, programmed in partnership with Literary Akron, focusing on Black history and participation in the comic book industry. Black Comic Book Day will start with a three speaker panel, open to everyone, followed by a networking section for local Black artists and writers.

Panel Topics:

-Black history, representation and perspective, and changing views on race in comics.


-Working in the comics industry as a Black professional, then and now.


-Comic books as a tool for community involvement and social justice.


-How AI is changing the industry and how that might affect Black creators.

Networking segment: “Comics Connect!” — A mixer event aimed at connecting local visual artists with black writers.
